A week full of training and study... life's good!

It was pretty much a week full of trainings and study last week.
We were training in the first part of the week with the AIS girls before they left for Australian National Champs in Brisbane which were held over the weekend. One of the teams that we train with won the champs title as well as Pip Soulsby, a Kiwi living in Sydney, placing 4th with an Australian partner. We were disappointed to not be able to compete because of my finger injury but it meant that Anna and I were very fortunate to have four team sessions with Steve Tutton, a knowledgeable and well respected coach here.
We learnt a lot and will take away many things that will improve our game. We relish these chances to be coached because we don’t have a full time coach like many of the teams on the World Tour. Although, when it’s just you and the coach you certainly get through a high number of repetitions and work hard, so staying awake past 8:30pm is like fighting a losing battle.
I’m sure that it is cooling down in NZ at the moment, but the temperatures are still hot here in Australia even around 5pm and it possibly won’t be any different in Turkey when we land there on Friday. It will be a long travel day from Adelaide to Singapore, a long lay over then on to Istanbul and then Antalya in Turkey.
When we leave Australia we know that we won’t have it as easy as this for a while. Staying with friends and the ease of having our own transport takes away many hurdles while travelling, but exploring the new destinations is part of the fun and from what I have seen Antalya has a lot of history to see.
Lifes good though :)

We are heading to Antalya to train with a German team so no competition unfortunately. However it is a common destination for training camps for European teams so I imagine that the local people will not be affended and we wouldn't be asked to wear extra clothing. Having said that, I just checked the temperature there and at the moment at its cooler 10-14 degrees over night and 22-24 degrees in the day. Thats a little on the chilly side in comparison to Australia at the moment :)
